Iontophoresis

Iontophoresis Therapy (Excessive Sweating)

Preston Dermatology offers iontophoresis therapy for the treatment of excessive sweating on the hands and feet (palmoplantar hyperhidrosis).

Iontophoresis is a simple, safe, and effective therapy to control hand and/or foot hyperhidrosis with an effectiveness rate of >90%. The treatment works by transferring a low voltage, low amperage current via a conductive medium (ie water) to the affected areas. This effectively neutralises the connection between the nerves and the sweat glands, thus reducing the excessive sweat gland activity. As a result, the amount of sweat reduces.
